Expanding and moving his practice to a more centrally located address in New York City, a chiropractor approached me to help him turn a sub-ground raw space into a spa-like healing arts center. Separating administrative staff from the flow of patients to the treatment rooms yet still providing staff access was of utmost importance. The experience of the patient upon entering the office until check-out was to be streamlined and stress free. Construction materials were chosen for their ecological footprint which meant custom furniture was made from Bamboo sources. The administrative office desk system came from a recycled office furniture warehouse and relaquered and upholstered. Track lighting with specialty bulbs would allow the ceilings to glow while still being energy efficient. Calming colors and materials for floors, furniture and waiting area were chosen. Auxillary rooms were added to the central treatment rooms for meditation and yoga classes. Storage space was stratigically placed for easy access and to create less clutter in the actual treatment rooms.
