When a Tribeca family was preparing for their second child, they knew their funky downtown loft would need either an overhaul or they would have to move. The first focus would be to modify the back of the loft where the master bedroom, master bathroom and children's bedrooms were located. Storage would be a key factor in the success of the renovation. Some walls were moved between the bedrooms and the master bathroom was refigured for more effecient use of the space. Ceilings are high in this apartment and what was once storage for broken luggage and empty boxes became a handy loft storage area replete with high tech metal folding stair and doors that easily fold back to make entry easier. Below, a mahogany custom closet with custom lighting and cozy rug and large mirrors made a dressing room area between the bedroom and the bathroom. A custom kick was designed into the closet where a library stool on wheels can be nudged out of it's own special compartment with a toe when hands are too full to grab it.
